Diverging Forest

Naris 3: Even the Trees are After You

CID P-3

Regions

Iced Woods

Aerial Marine Terrestrial CID R-9

Like something out of a horror movie, these eerie woods house some of the planet’s worst monsters. You’ll shiver with chills from the ambiance, although that could be due to the cold climate.

Subspecies

Succulent Jungle

Aerial Marine Terrestrial CID R-10

Everything is made of succulents, from the smallest shrubs to the tallest trees. The orange and purple coloration of the plants provide a backdrop to the hot and humid climate.

Subspecies

Cotton Everhues

Aerial Marine Terrestrial CID R-11

This temperate forest consists of colorful tall cotton trees. Don’t let the soft, fluffy plants fool you, there’s monsters lurking around every corner.

Subspecies

Fungus Deeps

Marine Terrestrial CID R-12

This region consists of trippy caves filled with a variety of mushrooms and hallucinogenic plants. Don’t get lost in the maze of caverns or you may make it out.

Subspecies

Milky Mangrove

Aerial Marine Terrestrial CID R-13

The mangrove trees ooze a poisonous milk-like sap that flows into the swamp waters. The sap has turned the water toxic, and only the most resistant creatures are able to call this region their home.

Subspecies

Aluminum Pines

Aerial Marine Terrestrial CID R-14

The inorganic and organic combine into one in this forest. Almost sculpture-like metallic plants are interspersed between tall pine trees with sharp needles.

Subspecies

Seaweed Fright

Marine Terrestrial CID R-15

Situated on the coast, the movement of the kelp evokes ghosts and other things go bump in the night. Of course it’s true, the forest does house those things.

Subspecies

Weedroot Plains

Aerial Marine Terrestrial CID R-16

This region is defined by its rocky outcrops, small ponds, and allergen producing fields of flowers. Like the rest of the planet, large monsters roam the plains. But at least you can see them coming for you.

Observations

The Diverging Forest used to be home to many small species of flora-fauna hybrids with relatively stable genome. But something has changed, and their DNA is no longer stable. Over a few generations, instead of eons, small species can mutate into giant monsters. We’re still investigating whether this disturbance is environmental or something else entirely.
